Southside Farmers Market

Farmers Markets

Wow. I Think Spring Is Here

This spring seems like it has taken a long time coming but with any luck it has finally arrived.  There are a few vegetables that you can start now.  On the back of seed packages there are regions that are marked in colors – Indiana is in the green which means planting in April is good.  After all it is the middle of the month.

I have planted onions both sweet and green, sweet carrots and lettuce but am wanting to add more item to my garden this year.

Nice looking lettuce

just just think of all the salads you could make getting fresh lettuce from the market or your garden.  Nothing is better than fresh vegetables in the summer.

I would like like to challenge everyone to the vegetable challenge.  So this summer, go to the store and buy a tomato, then come to the market and buy a tomato.  Then slice each one but keep them separate , then taste one then the other.  I bet you will pick the market tomato over the store bought tomato every time.  Same with just about every other vegetable.

Want a special topic?  Something you want to know about gardening?   Let me know and we can explore.  Until tomorrow, think gardening.

I was the Market Master for Southport Farmers Market which I started 5 years ago. I have turned the market over to a very quialified lady who loves working with customers and vendors alike. I spend many hours working on the updates to post here and bring you all the newest and exciting information of products, gardening, cooking and baking. I also am a Administrator for a popular Blog known as Jenn's Blah Blah Blog. Other things I do are fishing and baking.
