Have you Eaten your Veggies Today?

It is commonplace to hear a parent tell his/her child to eat their vegetables when at the dinner table.  Since vegetables are an important part of the Personal Trainer Food™ program, I felt it prudent to delve into the significance of these foods in your daily diet.  And what better place to find those fresh fruits and vegetables than the Southside Farmers Market.

Have you Eaten your Veggies Today?

Last week, I discussed the importance of water, as well as how crucial it is to keep hydrated.  I hope you were able to take stock in my words, and added more drinking water into your daily diet.  In doing so, you are changing your lifestyle for the better.  Vegetables are just as important.

When you enroll in the Personal Trainer Food program, your main concern is to lose weight.  As my Personal Trainer Food coach said, “weight loss is all about consistency and habit.  It is “making something sustainable for yourself long term.”  It is adapting a new lifestyle for yourself as you learn what foods burn fat, so you take off those extra pounds, as well as which foods you should eliminate from your diet all together.  Vegetables play an extremely important part in your diet.  On the REV plan, I eat three portions of vegetables a day:  one for lunch and two for dinner.  However, federal dietary guidelines recommend that you eat at least nine servings per day. Now, I care for most vegetables, okay not really most, but a lot, but to eat nine servings of vegetables a day would mean that I would be eating all day long.  I do not find those guidelines attainable for the majority of American families.

I have heard it said that variety is the spice of life, and it is definitely true with vegetables, as you have a choice on a daily basis.  The majority of the day-to-day used vegetables are very low in calories, and saturated fats.  These low-calorie but nutrient-rich foods help the human body stay fit, and free from diseases.

Did you know you should always purchase small quantities of your vegetables, so they will keep their freshness for a day or so?  Of course, you want to buy your vegetables that are bright in color and flavor, and feel heavy in your hands.  Look for blemishes, spots, fungal mold and signs of insecticide spray.  Buy whole vegetables instead of sections of them, also.  Buying your vegetables fresh ensures you receive the health benefits.

BENEFITS OF ADDING VEGETABLES TO YOUR DAILY DIET

  • Reduced risk of many chronic diseases;
  • Dietary fiber from vegetables helps reduce blood cholesterol levels and may lower risk of heart disease;
  • May reduce risk for stroke, cancer, and type-2 diabetes;
  • Vegetables have generous amounts of vitamins to regulate metabolism as well as used to convert the fats and carbohydrates into energy;
  • Green vegetables have health-promoting benefits;
  • Can help to reduce high blood pressure and protects against cataracts and macular degeneration, the major cause of loss of vision among people over age 65;
  • Vegetables also have a positive effect upon blood sugar which can help keep appetite in check;
  • A vegetable rich diet can help protect you from arthritis, dementia, and can even help slow down your body’s aging process;
  • Your yellow and orange color vegetables are rich in Vitamin A, whereas dark-green vegetables are a good source of minerals, as well as anti-oxidants;
  • Vegetables hydrate your skin, helping to reduce wrinkles.

The aforementioned list is just a sample of the reasons why you need to eat your vegetables daily.  Vegetables provide a lot of the vitamins and minerals you need in your daily diet.

Week Three

This program is simply terrific!  I am so happy, even though I lost less weight this past week than in former weeks.  I learned from my Personal Trainer that this process is normal since my body needs to adjust to being at a new weight.  He stated, “weight loss is a nonlinear descent that requires necessary periods of equilibrium.”

Although I have not taken any measurements throughout the program, I know I have lost inches, especially in my upper body.  I am able to detect this easily when selecting a blouse that I have not worn for a while, and after trying it on, I find the sleeves are loose on my upper arms.  My lower body is the hardest area for me.  This is the area where I usually gain the weight or inches first, and always the last area to lose the weight, or inches.  For health reasons, I cannot do any strenuous exercises, but I believe the more exercise that I can receive on a daily basis, the more toned my body will become.  Therefore, I am continuing to exceed my required 20-minute walks, or 2000 steps daily, when possible.

I am pleased that I have lost a total of 13.8 pounds to date, which is a great start to my new lifestyle.  I feel good, and best of all, I think I look better, as well.  I contribute my great stride to the information that I am learning to live a healthier lifestyle from the Personal Trainer program, as well as the delicious food I received at the start of the program.  I would be remiss if I left out my Personal Trainer Coach, who has been a tremendous help, also.  He is always available by email to answer any questions I might have, as well as taking a genuine interest in my progress.

PersonalTrainerFoodWeek3Photo5042616

For my dinner or the supper meal, I have 2 serving of vegetables.  Two of my favorite vegetables are Green Beans and Lima Beans, although I find it hard to resist the Broccoli and Cauliflower, as well.  The Personal Trainer Food has a good selection of various vegetables from which to choose.

PersonalTrainerFoodWeek3Photo3052516

The Garlic Butter Sauce that I received along with my food shipment from Personal Trainer Food spices up my plain vegetables.  Since I am not a gourmet cook, I just sprinkle a bit of the Sauce on my veggies for a change of pace.

Are you Following the Program Faithfully?

In order to achieve a goal, you must be persistent.  You need to keep that level of determination to reach that goal.  That means staying strong.  With a world of so many temptations with food and beverages, it is so easy to be lured by the craving of just that one piece of pie, cake, ice cream, or even beer.  Do not do it!  You will regret it immediately afterwards and it will set your diet back several days.  You will not see results on a daily level, but you will see the results with Personal Trainer Food™.

Are you Following the Program Faithfully?

I am proud to say that I am being faithful to the Personal Trainer Food™ program, even though I have had several temptations, on a daily basis, this past week alone.  I am approaching my second week on the Personal Trainer Food™ program in just a couple of days.  I can begin to tell a difference in my weight, as I can wear my wedding ring again, and my clothing is a bit looser.  I still have quite a bit of weight to take off, so I plan to follow the program closely to achieve my goal.  While I have not set an exact figure on how much I would like to lose, I know I need to continue onward until I obtain the weight where I feel I am at the top of my game.  I have not reached that point yet.  I am learning to change my lifestyle toward eating healthier.

I found this past week that I’ve had an urge to drink more water.  Before this program, I rarely drank water unless it contained ice cubes.  I know it is important to keep hydrated, especially since it helps my body detoxify from sugar faster.  Drinking an adequate amount of water daily is important for overall good health because water aids in digestion, circulation, absorption and even excretion.  But, how does water affect your skin?

The fact is that skin is an organ, and just like any other part of the body.  Your skin is made up of cells.  In addition, skin cells, like any other cell in the body, are made up of water.  Without water, the organs will certainly not function properly or at their best.  If your skin is not getting the sufficient amount of water, the lack of hydration will present itself by turning your skin dry, tight and flaky.  Dry skin has less resilience and is more prone to wrinkling.  As water is lost in large quantities every day, you need to replace it somehow.  The unfortunate truth about drinking water and skin is that water will reach all the other organs before it reaches the skin.  Therefore, it is important to apply water to our skin and keep it there – this will not only show a visible difference in hydration, but it can prevent wrinkles, as well.

According to the article How Much Water Does the Human Body Need Daily? by Alyssa Clement on the LivingStrong.com website:

“Water is essential for human survival.  An adult body is made up of about 60 percent water… Water removes waste from cells, brings nutrients to cells, regulates body temperature and helps you digest food.  When you do not consume enough water, serious complications can arise.  Your hydration needs depend on exercise, diet, age, body fat, altitude, pregnancy, medications and the weather.

Diet

The average amount of water consumed for males and females is based on caloric intake.  In general, you need 1 to 1.5 milliliters of water per calorie consumed each day.  On average, a female needs 9 cups of water per day, and males need 13 cups per day.

Exercise

Exercising increases your hydration needs.  Exercise and improper hydration, as well as clothing, weather and exercise intensity, can affect the balance of electrolytes in your body.  Before exercising, make sure you are properly hydrated.  Drink about 20 ounces of water two hours before a workout.  Drink 3 to 8 ounces of water every 15 minutes during exercise sessions.  If exercising longer than an hour, drink a solution with carbohydrates and salt to increase fluid absorption and regulate blood sugar.

Hot Weather

Hot weather raises your requirement for fluids whether you are exercising or not.  Drink fluids even when you are not thirsty to ensure hydration.  When you are exercising intensely in hot weather, drink two to four glasses of water during the session, and include fluids with carbohydrates and salts.  Caffeinated drinks, alcohol and heavily sugared drinks do not count as hydrating.

Dehydration

Dehydration is very serious and can affect your heart and body temperature, cause fatigue and possibly result in death.  Children, elderly people and ill people are more prone to dehydration.  Symptoms of dehydration include dry mouth, fatigue, increased heart rate and decreased urine output.”

Some of this information I already knew, but many of the tips are new to me.  Of course, I know personally that I am thirstier in the warmer weather and therefore I will usually drink more fluids; however, I do not always drink the proper fluid such as water to quench my thirst.  After reading this article, my aim is to drink more water.  I am sure that many of our readers follow the same pattern, and since those who are following the Personal Trainer Foods program walk for 20 minutes or more a day, they too need to drink more water.

Week Two

Do not expect huge results immediately during your diet.  You did not gain the weight overnight; neither can you lose it overnight.  Even just a few ounces will make the difference in how you look and feel.  This past week, I found that I was not always hungry when mealtime came around.  I read all the informational material that I received when I received the Personal Trainer Food™, which stated that you should eat your three meals.  However, my schedule is a hectic one because of my husband’s health condition, so we do not always eat our meals at a set time each day.  I found when I consume more water, my hunger level declines significantly.  With the help of my Personal Trainer Food™ coach, I learned that it is not always essential to eat dinner, if I was full from lunch.  Likewise, if I was not full after dinner, I did not have to starve myself before bedtime either.  This is the period that it critical to me, between dinner and bedtime.  This is where I am most vulnerable.  To help curb this craving, I have saved one of my snacks to tide me over during this period.  So far, this method has worked for me.  However, as an individual, your circumstances might be different.

PersonalTrainerFoodCombination01051916

It is important to drink plenty of fluids while on the program, but it is just as important to consume your proteins.   Everyone needs protein for his or her bodies to function.  Protein is one of the big three macronutrients.  The other two are carbohydrate and fat.  Adequate protein intake is essential for good health:  It is necessary for maintaining the body’s normal growth and its muscle mass (which is mostly protein), its immune system, and heart and respiratory functions.  As a rule, between 10 percent and 15 percent of your total calories should come from protein.  Through the Personal Trainer Food program, you receive your daily requirements through their meats with both breakfast and dinner meals.  When you enroll in the program, you select the particular types of meats you would like to receive for the duration of the program.  The breakfast meats are pre-packaged with your egg option.  The dinner meats are individually packaged, leaving you the option to select whatever meat you wish along with your choice of vegetable.  And, the meat choices are all delicious!

Do not expect drastic results with Personal Trainer Food™ right away, as I mentioned earlier, you didn’t gain the extra weight overnight, so you won’t lose it overnight.  Stay determined.  I know you can lose the weight.  Stay faithful to the program, and you too can achieve your desired level of weight, to ensure you are at the top of your game.

Movin’ on Down

Do you feel different?  Have you relied on your scales to tell the difference you experienced, or have you judged your weight loss by the way your clothing fits?  How about your energy level?  Has that changed?  Do not expect huge results the first week of your diet plan.  You did not gain the weight overnight; neither can you lose it overnight.  It takes time to see the results with Personal Trainer Food.  Nevertheless, the results will come as you continue your efforts to lose the weight, so long as you do not cheat.

Movin’ on Down

As I approach the end of my first official week on the Personal Trainer Food program, I can definitely tell the difference, not so much in the weight department, or the way my clothing fits, but in my energy level.  The information that I received at the start of the program, listed various symptoms that I might encounter.  Normally, if I do not eat, I tend to get a headache, and while I was fasting, I did experience this sensation; however, to curb this, I simply drank a cup of warm broth.  Strangely enough, I did not have any cravings for any sugary substances while I was fasting.  What I did encounter the actual first day of the program was weakness, as well as a feeling of being tired.  This is normal because of the sugar withdrawal.  It normally takes about a week for your body to adjust to burning stored fat as fuel.  Keeping hydrated helps your body detoxify from sugar faster.

PersonalTrainerFood1051016

I can tell you that the food from Personal Trainer Food™ is delicious.  For breakfast, I had an egg omelet, as well as a sausage patty.  For those of you who skip breakfast, think again.  Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  It gives you energy to get going, as it has been several hours since you last consumed any food.  While I am accustomed to a much larger meal for breakfast, I was eating the wrong foods.  Personal Trainer Food™ is teaching me a different lifestyle while consuming a full portion of food.  When I consulted my family physician several months ago about my weight issue, she told me that the average person eats approximately twice the amount of food in one day that our body actually needs, and to limit the amount of food I consume.  While she might be correct in her diagnosis, if I continued to partake in the wrong foods, even as I slimmed down on my portion sizes, I would not be able to drop any of the weight.

PersonalTrainingFoodWeek1051316

Week One

I have never considered myself a nutritionist in any sense of the word, but the Personal Trainer Food™ has helped me to recognize what foods your body needs to be healthy and active, as well as to assist in your weight loss goals.  Of course, the company has made it so easy by supplying me with prepackaged meals for the program.  By eating the Personal Trainer Food™, the correct foods for consumption, you direct your body to burn the stored body fat.

The various plans of Personal Trainer Food™ are designed to fit your needs.  On the REV! plan, I found that I am not hungry at all between meals, and only get a craving after dinner and before bedtime.  Therefore, I have saved my snack until that time of the day.  You are allowed two snacks a day, but I have discovered that I do not really need a second snack.  I think this craving late in the evening is psychosomatic.  You might experience cravings throughout the day, as each of us have a different body chemistry.  So, choose whatever works for you.

Just Get Rid of it Without Feeling Guilty

With the opening of the Southside Farmer’s Market, we need to focus our thoughts on foods that are good for our bodies to provide the energy we need on a daily basis.  For those individuals who are looking to slim down, foods from Personal Trainer Food is just what you need.  Of course to supplement, you are allowed other foods to help compliment your Personal Trainer Food, such as celery, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.  These are the types of foods that are now available at the Southside Farmer’s Market.

Just Get Rid of it Without Feeling Guilty

I am preparing to treat myself to a Mother’s Day gift.  A gift of a healthier lifestyle and thinner frame.  For such a long time, I have wanted to lose these extra pounds, but could never really stick to one diet.  I’ve tried several over the course of the last couple of years and although I lost a few pounds, as soon as I quit the diet, the weight came right back.

I recently kept a wellness visit arranged by my insurance company.  During this visit, the nurse took all the crucial information such as the medications I take on a daily basis, my height, weight, etc.  Now, I know that I am overweight and was pleasantly surprised when the nurse said that with my high body mass index, she would consider me as overweight, but not obese.  Despite the body mass index number, I know I am overweight simply because I feel sluggish.  I have no energy to do anything at all.  Furthermore, in brushing my hair the other day, I noticed that my arms were beginning to get flabby.  Yes, it is definitely time to do something about my weight.

Now, my daughter had the same weight problems for quite a number of years.  She rearranged her lifestyle many years ago to eat healthier and today she is 72 pounds lighter.  It took several months for her, but she accomplished what she set out to do, and that is to lose the weight.  Well, she tells me that my weight problem is from boredom.  Thinking back, she is correct.  One can never see what is right in front of your face until it is pointed out to you.

Recently a teammate took the Personal Trainer Food challenge, as well, and lost 30 pounds just since the New Year, but she was on another plan.  That was my incentive to do something about my weight problem.  So, when Personal Trainer Food offered me an opportunity to review their REV!™ plan, I was anxious to do so.  Thank you Personal Trainer Food.

PersonalTrainingFoodPic050616

Yes, that is right; I just needed some incentive to try this diet.

PersonalFood1050616

The Personal Trainer Food is not your typical weight loss plan, however.  With the Personal Trainer Food, the aim is to eliminate all sugar in your diet, as sugar is the culprit of most weight gains.  Now, I will be the first to tell you that I am a sugar junkie, or should I say, I was.  Today, I am fasting to prepare my body to lose the fat.  I have learned a lot about the benefits of fasting as it jump-starts your weight loss by providing an easier transition to fat-burning mode, deceases sugar withdrawal symptoms your first week, gives your digestive system a break and helps you bust through weight loss plateaus.  However, just because I am fasting does not mean that I have to do without.  With the Personal Trainer Food, even on your fasting days, you can have coffee, diet soda and other sugar-free drinks, unsweetened tea and drinks like water or flavor enhancers like Crystal Light™.  You can also have broth.  I had a cup of chicken broth for lunch and will have another one for dinner.  Then tomorrow morning, I will begin eating the Personal Trainer Foods.  Through the REV!™ plan, you receive 1 breakfast food of your choice:

PersonalFood3050616

You get one meat and one vegetable for lunch:

PersonalFood5050616

In addition, for dinner you get two vegetables.

PersonalFood4050716

The REV!™ plan last 28 days.  Personal Trainer Food provides enough food to last you the entire time.  The foods are individually packaged, so you can mix and match them for endless varieties, and are packed in dry ice for shipping purposes.  When mealtime calls, you simply microwave your food pursuant to the directions on the package.  You even get to have snacks, as well.

Twenty-Eight Days & Counting is getting closer

Friday January 8th will be my 28 days of Personal Trainer Food Program and I am anxious to see how I have progressed over the time period.  I know that I have done quite well considering it was during the holiday season and I had to resist a lot of seasonal foods but I know that it has made a difference because I feel it in my energy level and how my clothes fit.  I even went out and purchased some new clothes which always make you feel good when you can purchase that smaller size.  Last week I gave you a before picture and a picture on the 20-day mark showing quite a difference in my size.  I am hoping to possibly drop another size if I can swing it.  I will just have to walk a bit more which always helps but I have to stick to eating all the right foods and not be tempted to have a donut or candy bar.

Now tonight I plan on having a burger for my supper.  I will fix my husband just a hamburger like he likes his and I will have the better 100% Angus beef burger from Personal Trainer Food Program. It is one of the best burgers I have ever had.  For a side I might add some broccoli or cauliflower and possibly a lettuce salad to complete my meal.

IMG_0077

I have always enjoyed my breakfasts with egg and maple sausage or an omelet with maple sausage or bacon.  I haven’t even missed the bread because the breakfast is very filling and the maple flavoring on the sausage adds a bit of sweetness.

Have you thought about making your New Year’s Resolution and getting hooked up with Personal Trainer Food Program?  It is one of best ways to kick start your weight loss and you do it is such a way that you are not trying to do too much too soon which always makes you fail.  I know from experience that the Personal Trainer Food Program has helped me loose more weight than I thought could be possible and it was not that hard to follow the program.

IMG_0096

This is the Teriyaki Chicken and mixed vegetables which was absolutely to die for.  That by the way is a regular size plate so the portion size is quite big.  Another one of my favorites was the meatballs which you can make a soup with or just eat them plain with your choice of vegetables.

IMG_0068

One thing to remember is you always have a Weight Loss Coach that is ready to help you if you need it and you can eat a meal out occasionally.  Just remember to eat meats, eggs, leafy greens and non-starchy vegetables which means you can eat off most menus without worries.  That is what is so fabulous about Personal Trainer Food Program is the steps are easy you just have to follow them and you will succeed in losing weight and inches.

I plan on following Personal Trainer Food Program until I reach my desired weight and size of clothing I want to get back into.  I will follow up with you closer to Friday and let you know exactly how I did with the program.  Until then.

Week Two on Personal Trainer Food™

Today is day number 9 of the Twenty-Eight Days and Counting Challenge using Personal Trainer Food™.  So, after a week and two days, all I can say is WOW this Personal Trainer Food™ really does work.  I have lost 6 pounds and a total of 11 inches.  Like I said WOW!  That eleven inches was all fat because I have cut sugar and carbohydrates out of my diet, walked 20 to 30 minutes each day and have not cheated.  If I was the least bit skeptical at the beginning I have no reason to doubt Personal Trainer Food™ Program at all since I got the results I got in one weeks time.

The variety of food Personal Trainer Food™ has is absolutely delicious and you don’t get hungry or get a craving of any kind.  I was a total freak for chocolate and snacked on that a lot during the day but now I don’t know if I could eat any chocolate or sweets at all because I have been sugar free since my first fasting day.

So you might think that I am losing the weight way to fast but if you stop and think about how it is being done it is not harmful at all.  My body is using the fat that I have stored up for years and since I am not adding any new fat each day I burn more and more fat.  This is such an awesome idea that really works.

For the first 9 days I ate breakfast, lunch and dinner from the menu I picked from on the Personal Trainer Food™ Program.  Like for breakfast this morning I had a Western egg omelet chocked full of ham and peppers with maple sausage.

IMG_0081

Western Egg Omelet & Maple Sausage Patty

For lunch today I made the Meatball Minestrone soup where you fix four meatballs and a bag of mixed veggies according to the directions on the package.  You add 2 cups of chicken broth but I was out of chicken so I used Beef broth which was just as good as the chicken.  Add some Italian seasoning and salt and pepper and lunch is served.  I have to say the Minestrone soup was quite filling, so for my evening meal, I finished the soup.

IMG_0094

There are some do’s and don’ts that help you if you get in a stalling pattern.  You can eat as many meats, eggs prepared any way, green leafy veggies, up to 3 ounces of nuts a day, an apple a day in case you need more.  The don’ts to avoid are fruits, nut butters, milk and milk alternatives, honey, and sugar as well as agave.  To cheat or sneak a cookie or ice cream, bread or any comfort food.

I am being very optimistic that week two will be as good as week one but I am hoping to add some additional steps because being just days from Christmas I still have some shopping to do I can get a bit more steps in.  Also, I plan to talk with my coach to see if there are any suggestions or guidelines she might be able to give me.

IMG_0093

2 Maple Sausage patties and one egg or Breakfast

That is just another helpful point to the Personal Trainer Food Program.  You have your own coach to help you when you need it.  You can also do an intermittent fasting on a daily basis that has shown to lead to successful weight loss.  There are benefits to fasting like it gives your digestive system a break and helps to decrease sugar withdrawal.

Well, I can actually say I was extremely satisfied with my weight loss for the first week.  I really noticed it in my belly area and the pooch is going away.  I will also be checking into the Personal Trainer Food Blog to check in to 15 Holiday Fixes and see if I am missing anything I should be doing.  I will see you in a couple of days and give you some more tips that I have found to be helpful.  See you then!
